Gundren went missing, presumed uncomfortable, shortly after hiring the Talons of Tresendar, having been ambushed en-route to Phandalin by the Cragmaw goblins. A mere tenday or so later, Gundren was rescued from certain scandal by the Talons and returned saftely to Phandalin. Luckily he escaped from the fearsome King Grol with his map to Wave Echo Cave still in hand.

On Greengrass, he promised the group a 10% share in the profits Mine of Phandelver if the clear the mine of ‘undesirables’ for him. Upon clearing the mine, Gundren quickly moved in to the mine and hired on a number of dwarves to help him restart it.

On the morning of Mirtul 24, Gundren brought a score of his toughest workers to help the beseiged town of Phandalin. Although they arrived too late to stop the bulk of the looting and pillaging, the arrival of the dwarves forced the raiders to retreat back to their camp.
